Overall purpose

This role is key in shaping GS1 UK's voice and visibility through strategic event planning and execution. You will develop and implement a comprehensive event strategy to elevate our brand visibility and engage key stakeholders. You’ll drive marketing team support through the creation of email campaigns, management of the team’s internal communications and execution of employee advocacy activations. This position demands a data-driven approach, exceptional project management and the ability to enhance partner engagement through impactful marketing initiatives.

Job responsibilities

Events strategy and planning 

This role involves developing and implementing an event strategy for GS1 UK. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning: creating and executing a comprehensive event strategy.
  • Performance tracking: monitoring event performance and identifying areas for improvement through a comprehensive tracker in MS planner. Evaluate events using defined corporate criteria (e.g. return on investment and customer satisfaction). Manage a quarterly events review report with PMO manager for ops board and execs team.
  • Budget management: overseeing event budgets and ensuring cost-effectiveness. Monitoring data with finance team and feeding insights into quarterly events review.
  • Data-driven decision making: using data to inform future strategic decisions.
  • Calendar management: managing the events calendar to optimise GS1 UK's industry presence.
Events management and delivery

This role involves managing a variety of events, from large-scale conferences (e.g. AGM, healthcare conference) to webinars. Key responsibilities include:

  • Event planning and execution: organising and delivering events, including logistics, speaker management, promotional activities and contra-marketing opportunities.
  • Event marketing and promotion: promoting events to attract attendees and maximise impact.
  • Event collateral: work with the wider marketing team to create and maintain impactful presentations, supporting content, promotional materials, briefing documents and reports.
  • Webinar facilitation: manage GS1 UK’s webinars to external stakeholders. Create and send pre and post webinar communications.
  • Briefing process: manage the briefing documents and process for the GS1 UK team so they have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities during the event.
  • Post-event analysis: evaluating event performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder management: collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth event delivery.
  • Budget management: overseeing event budgets and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Partner marketing enhancement

Driving partner engagement and brand amplification through strategic marketing initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Website presence: enhance partner visibility and brand presence through targeted website optimisation and content marketing.
  • Social engagement: increase partner brand awareness and social media engagement through strategic social media marketing and community management.
  • Marketing efficiency: improve marketing efficiency by streamlining partner acquisition journeys, optimising associated communications and collateral and implementing effective marketing automation and email marketing initiatives.
  • Performance tracking: develop and implement marketing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track partner marketing programme effectiveness.
  • Feedback analysis: conduct regular partner marketing satisfaction surveys and analyse feedback to refine marketing strategies.
  • Joint campaigns: identify and develop joint marketing campaigns and promotional activities with key partners.
  • Partner support: act as the primary marketing point of contact for partner enquiries and support requests.
Marketing team support & internal promotion

You’ll play a key role in supporting the marketing team's communication efforts and promoting their initiatives internally:

  • Email marketing: assist in the creation and distribution of marketing emails, ensuring clear and consistent messaging; optimising automation where possible to maximise impact.
  • SharePoint updates: develop and maintain engaging marketing updates and hub on SharePoint, keeping internal teams informed about marketing activities and successes.
  • Media screen updates: create and schedule compelling content for the internal media screens, highlighting key campaigns and achievements.
  • Internal social media engagement: drive internal engagement with our social media channels through platforms like GaggleAMP, encouraging employee participation and advocacy.

Background and experience

Essential 
  • At least two years’ experience in delivering and working on B2B events and conferences. Experience of successfully developing an impactful events strategy that increased brand awareness.
  • Excellent project management and planning skills.
  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills – for online and offline.
  • Full multi-channel marketing campaign experience.
  • Consultative style, able to work as a team with other key stakeholders.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and committed – a can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of different virtual event platforms and blended events.
  • Good understanding of UX and content strategy.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • An analytical approach and able to work with data.
  • Experience of turning commercial ideas into reality.
  • Educated to degree level.
Desirable
  • Professional marketing qualification - degree, CIM, CAM.
  • Knowledge and experience of the retail sector.
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, PremierePro.
