Accountabilities
- Support, and be accountable for, the formulation and successful delivery of aligned business plans to meet identified strategic healthcare needs across the four national health authorities, their associated bodies and regulators to increase the adoption of GS1 standards
- Support the engagement with national and global healthcare partners to drive the adoption and growth of our standards
Key responsibilities
- Broaden adoption of GS1 standards within national programmes for NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, Health and Social Care, Northern Ireland
- Develop a strategic approach to key opinion leader engagement. Grow the healthcare engagement network with decision makers in the UK e.g. chief information officers, directors of finance, heads of procurement, chief nurses
- Explore new use cases and digital platforms for the adoption of GS1 standards across the UK
- Support initiatives to drive growth in GS1 UK healthcare membership and in adjacent sectors
- Represent GS1 UK as speaker/chair at UK healthcare events and deliver training and education sessions internally and externally
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure clear, consistent, and accurate external messaging across all channels. Drive adoption and awareness of the importance of GS1 standards with national bodies e.g. Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, Health Service Safey Investigation Body
- Keep abreast of all relevant legislation, regulation, and policy for medical devices and pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Lead engagement with trade associations, royal colleges and similar organisations ensuring mutual value is gained from these relationships
- Ensure a strategic engagement approach with solution providers, manufacturers and partners to meet the GS1 UK healthcare priorities
- Manage the GS1 UK Healthcare User Group in delivering value for stakeholders and delivering outcomes that meet NHS and GS1 UK priorities
- Lead the healthcare team’s key account management processes to ensure an effective targeted approach for engagement
- Lead on speaker acquisition and oversee content development for the GS1 UK Healthcare conference
- Develop effective standards-based solutions to problems raised by national bodies and become a trusted expert and authority on standards across UK healthcare
- Support strategy and operational plans ensuring a consistent approach across GS1 UK teams
- Support the Head of Healthcare in relevant global activities such as the Healthcare Interest Group and global healthcare conferences, including speaker acquisition and preparation
- Lead the engagement of GS1 input into the development of GS1 and national NHS standards such as DCB1077 and ISB0108
- Ensure continuous improvement of healthcare team activities by critically appraising our methods and outputs
- Support the standards and consulting teams by ensuring that the current and future needs of the healthcare members are understood and fulfilled

Background and experience
Essential
- Significant background in healthcare delivery with experience working in the NHS or private healthcare, preferably deploying system solutions that transform patient pathways
- Established leader, having people management experience
- Thrives on having a wide variety of activities to deliver
- Ability to be strategic and willingness to examine details where necessary
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of representing an organisation in group environments and on stage
- Curious and creative
- Self-driven and willing to hold peers to account
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make decisions in an environment which has competing priorities
- Good business acumen – ability to identify the opportunities cross team
- Experience in facilitating industry groups towards agreed solutions and outcomes

Desirable
- Knowledge of GS1 standards, Scan4Safety and associated use cases
- Experience of clinical informatics and digital system implementation in healthcare
