A thank you to the healthcare community

Over the past few months, healthcare systems around the world have been facing their biggest challenge in modern times.

Many would have been heavily impacted by more recent pandemics, such as swine flu and SARS, but nothing on this extraordinary scale.

Probably for the first time since its inception, our National Health Service, and its dedicated team of staff, are being stretched beyond their limits, as are manufacturers and suppliers alike.

Each of us in the GS1 UK healthcare team has come from a background in the sector – whether that be on the frontline or as a representative from industry. We can all partially identify with just how difficult the task at hand must be.

The entire healthcare supply chain is working at capacity, and there’s no hiding from the fact that there have been challenges. However, with this pressure comes fortitude, and this is one time where collaboration has known no bounds.

To that end, GS1’s 114 Member Organisations continue to collectively support our two million members across the industries we work in.

Before this crisis, it would have been hard to imagine being prouder of our NHS, but it’s safe to say there’s a newfound sense of pride being felt by all. We see this in particular every Thursday evening at 8pm when thousands take to the street to clap for carers.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, thank you for all you do, and are continuing to do for all of us at this time. And on behalf GS1 UK, we wish you our best.

We are here to help where we can, and where you need. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you do.

With best wishes,

Glen
