Management accountant

Accountabilities:

Preparation of GS1 UK’s monthly accounts, including agreement of the variances in accordance with agreed timetable. To support members by processing queries that are raised, including invoice corrections, re-allocation of payments and refunding payments. 

Key responsibilities: 

Management accounts
  • To prepare accurate and timely management accounts for presentation and review with the finance manager and the CFO in accordance with agreed timetable
  • This includes fully understanding all variances by discussing variances between actual, budget and forecast with budget holders, and reporting these to the finance manager and CFO
  • To maintain the weekly bank reconciliation
  • To ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly
  • To prepare and submit the quarterly VAT return, including the reconciliation of income between the VAT return and the management accounts 
Additional
  • To become the main point of contact for the finance team for all finance system (Netsuite) improvements, as well as providing ongoing support to the Finance manager and IS team
  • To process customer queries, including invoice corrections, re-allocation of payments, refunding payments etc.
  • To check and record staff expense claims, ensuring all claims are correctly coded, and authorised for payment and are in accordance with GS1 UK expenses policy
  • To undertake other ad-hoc duties as required to help contribute to the achievement of GS1 UK’s objectives, whilst supporting the finance team's goals 

Person specification:

Background and experience
  • Two years’ experience spent working in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, at least one customer relationship management system and MS Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Good understanding of basic book keeping
  • Ability to manage team and personal priorities, with good time management and organisational skills
Desirable
  • Working towards a professional accounting qualification
