Overall purpose

This is an exciting new opportunity to work as part of a growing marketing team to be heavily involved in designing and creating marketing material to help the organisation at every level. You’ll play a key role in evolving our brand across our key digital channels including our website, social media and email. 

Key responsibilities

Working closely with the marketing team and the digital lead you will be responsible for evolving the GS1 UK brand digitally by: 
  • Designing, producing, and managing digital content for key digital channels
  • Providing layouts and designs for improvements to our website and other digital platforms
  • Supporting the marketing team with digital creative requirements for social media, email and display advertising
  • Developing social-optimised engaging content which tells compelling stories to engage our audiences across social platforms and digital channels
  • Storyboarding and creating engaging animations and videos for social media
Alongside responsibilities in the digital space the digital designer will work closely with the lead graphic designer to:
  • Design and create artwork and graphics for projects, events and campaigns including presentation design
  • Interpret and expand on a wide range of briefs, offering creative input and original ideas
  • Ensure consistency in designs and content is on brand, across all GS1 UK platforms
  • Help develop clear, innovative and well-defined visual language for the brand
  • Manage our digital asset management system by keeping assets up to date, organised and easily accessible for others

Background and experience

Essential
  • You have a degree in graphic design or a related field
  • 1-2 years proven experience in a digital design role
  • A portfolio of previous digital design work to showcase creative skills covering image editing, typography, animation, social content and layout composition
  • Proven background in designing high-quality creatives for social media
  • Creative thinker, proficient in a broad range of programmes with strong motion design and editing skills
  • In-depth knowledge of using Adobe Creative Suite e.g. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Confidence in taking briefs and developing them when needed
  • Exceptional attention to detail to deliver high quality and accurate content
Desirable
  • Knowledge of front-end development skills such as HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Previous experience using design software programmes such as InVision, Figma
  • Knowledge of UX and UI best practices
