GS1 UK Approved
h-trak
h-trak specialises in providing integrated procedure information. We enable hospitals to improve their supply chain, manage the procurement process, achieve inventory cost savings, drive clinical efficiencies and ‘track and trace’ devices, to boost patient safety. Our UK team has expertise in all aspects of healthcare data management.
Contact information
Introduced into the UK in 2014, our h-trak point-of-care system is used in clinical environments to provide a rich source of procedure information, trigger stock replenishment and improve patient safety, by tracking and tracing clinical implants.
Finance, clinical and procurement professionals are able to use h-trak data to review performance, achieve cost savings, improve supply chains, identify clinical variance and deliver Scan4Safety transformations.
h-trak is embedded in the first NHS Scan4Safety demonstrator site to successfully meet GS1 standards for materials management, purchase-to-pay, and product recall.
Using scanning technology, h-trak decodes GS1 barcodes to accurately track assets, staff, and patients during procedures, as well as capturing implants and consumables. h-trak can also capture other data such as timing points and procedure(s) undertaken to provide a record of all components of a procedure and associated costs, facilitating patient level procedure costs and offering a comprehensive view of the patient journey.
h-trak enhances patient safety, automatically capturing implant lot/serial numbers and logging instrumentation sets so that patients can easily be identified in the event of a recall. h-trak also warns if products have expired.
h-trak’s automated stock replenishment reduces time spent by clinical staff ordering products, resulting in more time for patient care. Stocktakes are quicker and levels of expired stock are dramatically reduced as h-trak identifies wastage and ‘off contract’ purchasing.
Underpinned by a database of more than 1.2 million barcoded products, h-trak is used in more than 1,000 operating theatres – and more than two million procedures captured and costed to date. The database is constantly enriched and new applications developed to enhance h-trak software.
Each project, regardless of size and complexity, is approached with a proven change management process. Great emphasis is placed on collaboration, training and acceptance testing prior to handing over any project to hospitals.
Approved products
h-trak have been approved for their product – h-trak point-of-care system.
Our h-trak system is effectively the bridge that connects the clinical ‘coal face’ with the business and administrative functions of hospitals. h-trak is based on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model where all data is held on a central web server, so no application software is installed on a hospital’s PC, meaning that the solution can be set up and accessed easily.
h-trak is flexible, scalable and can be adapted to different requirements and processes, from a single clinical department within a hospital or across an ICS.
Once h-trak captures data at the point of use, it can be uploaded into, or enriched by, a hospital’s existing systems, such as:
- ERP finance and inventory management systems
- PLICS
- Electronic patient record
- Theatre management systems
- Central data repositories
