Code of practice

Guidance for GS1 UK partners on the
core values of the partner programme.

The GS1 UK partner programme code of practice sets out the core values and expected behaviour for all our partners.

Partners signing up to the partner programme and working with GS1 UK will all be expected to adhere to the following:

1) Professional conduct

You will act with integrity and not engage in any activity that is likely to corrupt or disparage the aims of GS1 UK.

2) Injury to others

You will not deliberately damage the professional reputation of another member of this, or any other association.

3) Misleading information

You will act honestly so suppliers or customers are not misled. You will not publish or communicate false or misleading information. All employees in your organisation should conform to this ethos.

4) Responsibility to GS1 UK

You are expected to promote the adoption of the GS1 standards and best practice, and the importance of using open standards rather than proprietary solutions.

5) Responsibility to customers

You represent the industries we serve and therefore, should conduct yourselves in a professional and honest manner. You must not deliberately mislead customers.

6) Disclosure of confidential information

You must not disclose (except as may be required by law or statute) or make use of information given or obtained in confidence from their company, suppliers, customers, GS1 UK or other associations for personal gain, or otherwise, without prior written consent.

7) Declaration of interest

You will promote your own solutions but should promote the use and importance of GS1 standards versus proprietary standards to all opportunities.

8) Enforcement of the code of practice

Your organisation is expected to work within the spirit of this code of practice in all your business dealings.
