On 1 October 2021, Natasha’s Law will come into effect with the aim of increasing transparency within the food and beverage industry.
But with a fifth of Brits believing they have a food allergy, and only one is six able to identify any allergens in common food groups, will Natasha’s Law go far enough to help inform and protect consumers?
To discuss this issue, and the role that open, global GS1 standards have to play in supporting consumer safety, we have brought together an expert panel, consisting of Professor Adam Fox (paediatric allergy consultant), Coral Rose (Country Range Group) and Anne Godfrey (CEO at GS1 UK).

Coral loves the world of food and hospitality. She has more than 20 years experience working with foodservice wholesalers and manufacturers, producing creative yet pragmatic strategic solutions that deliver tangible results.
Professor Adam Fox is a paediatric allergy consultant and a child allergy specialist. He is President of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and he won the Raymond Horton-Smith Prize in 2012 for his doctoral thesis.
Anne joined GS1 UK in August 2020. She specialises in change management within the not-for-profit space and has a proven track record of delivering challenging targets while harnessing the skills, knowledge and passion of members, staff and external stakeholders.
Previously, Anne has held leadership roles across a number of membership organisations, including time as CEO at both the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Anne was also director of commercial and membership services at the Law Society, and commercial and marketing director at the Confederation of British Industry.
David is one of the four owner-operator partners at Red Brick Road, who have been named a 'World's Leading Independent Agency', having won creative and effectiveness awards from The Marketing Society, The Effies UK, Marketing New a Thinking Awards, the British Arrows, Creative Circle and The Drum.
