At our 40th Annual General Meeting, we presented the Silver Line with a cheque – and raised more money on the night
Since our colleagues at GS1 UK chose the Silver Line as our charity almost a year ago, we’ve raised over £9,000 in total through our many fundraising activities. So far we’ve held cake sales, jeans day, pub quizzes, film screenings, sports activities and lots more. And we’ve done some bigger things too – some of our colleagues participated in a Triathlon over the summer.
And of course there was the infamous duck competition back in April – which no one who attended our healthcare conference will forget! Which is why the ducks made a comeback for one last night at the AGM – helping us raise more money on the night. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
Our CEO, Gary Lynch and charity lead, Lauren Marshall, were more than happy to hand over our latest cheque to the Silver Line – for £4,000.
The Silver Line started in 2013 and supports older people with the effects of loneliness. More than half of all 75 year olds and above in the UK live alone and one in ten suffers “intense” loneliness but is reluctant to ask for help. It offers a confidential, free helpline for older people across the UK to phone for information, advice or just to have a chat.
And we’re doing so much more – read more about what we do and how you can get involved with any of our charity initiatives.
