March 16, 2026 Industry news
On 22 and 23 April 2026, ExCeL London will host the Retail Technology Show, bringing together more than 15,000 senior retail professionals, more than 450 innovative tech suppliers and 125 industry-leading speakers across two days of sessions, demos and networking.
GS1 UK will be exhibiting at stand T05, demonstrating how QR codes powered by GS1 bridge the physical and digital worlds, helping brands and retailers connect, protect and inspire like never before.
What we’re showcasing
At stand T05, we’ll demonstrate how QR codes powered by GS1 can hold far more than a standard barcode, carrying everything from batch numbers and expiry dates to allergens, recycling guidance and brand-authorised product information.
Unlike a standard QR code, QR codes powered by GS1 hold the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) alongside additional data and link to multiple online sources. This gives consumers instant access to product details while giving businesses the tools to improve transparency, traceability and sustainability across the supply chain.
For retailers and brands, that means real benefits: better transparency, simpler recalls and returns, stronger inventory management and richer consumer experiences, all from a single scan. This has the potential to power transparency, trust and engagement at every stage of the customer journey.
We’ll be covering marketing and communications, retail operations, supply chain and logistics, smart packaging and labels and sustainability at stand T05.
Whether you’re just getting started or looking to go deeper, there’s something for every stage of the journey.
Join the innovators tour
We’re also hosting a curated tour of QR innovators across the show floor. Covering everything from point-of-sale to connected experiences supported by the GS1 UK partners driving the next generation of barcodes. This includes Byways, io.tt, Zebra Technologies, Barcode Warehouse, DataLogic, Zappar, Honeywell and Sato.
