Selling with OnBuy – how to get started

OnBuy was designed to create success for sellers of all sizes – from multinationals to sole traders and everyone in between.

The marketplace offers the support, resources and audience to help maximise revenues, domestically and worldwide – and it gives everyone the same tools and features, no matter how big or small their business may be.

Step 1: Getting started on OnBuy

Head to OnBuy and fill out an easy application form to let the team know details about your business and what you’re selling.

OnBuy onboards new sellers personally, so this step is important – and helps you get the most out of the world’s fastest-growing marketplace. The team will get in touch within one working day.

Once your account is set up, your personal account manager will help you make the most of selling with OnBuy, offering support and guidance when you need it.

Step 2: Listing your products

OnBuy operates a catalogue system for product listings. This means multiple sellers can list on the same product, ensuring buyers can find what they’re looking for easily.

Products can be listed using their unique GS1 barcodes. You can easily check for product matches, list against products and create new products in bulk through a template or one of the many channel systems OnBuy is integrated with. OnBuy’s Product Wizard also enables you to create new products individually.

To ensure your products are appealing as possible to buyers, title and describe your listings as accurately as possible, and categorise your products correctly to make sure buyers can find it easily.

Step 3: Adding images to product listings

Strong images convert browsers into buyers, so it’s vital that you provide product imagery that shows the listed item from every angle.

If in doubt, imagine if the item was in a physical store, and customers were examining it. What details would they be able to see? Those are the details your product images should reflect.

OnBuy’s most successful products are those with clear white backgrounds, letting the image of the product itself do the talking.

Step 4: Ensure you use strong keywords in your listings

There’s a fine balance with keyword optimisation. Natural language and phrasing, which also features search terms your customers are likely to be typing in to find what they want to buy, is the key here.

Product pages also feature bullet points you can use to summarise your product listing as well. These are a great way of letting customers know the advantages of your products in a snappy, informative way.

Step 5: Utilise the OnBuy Brand Ownership feature

OnBuy understands how important it is for your brands to be represented and promoted properly.

Along with customised landing pages, branded content snippets on product pages and more, OnBuy offers a Brand Ownership feature to sellers who own brands.

If you own a brand exclusively, you can choose to limit other sellers from listing on it - keeping you in control of your brand’s representation.
