All 6 Scan4Safety Trusts using LocationManager to manage their locations in an accurate, timely and consistent way
GS1 UK have launched LocationManager - an online service that gives NHS Trusts and their suppliers an easy, cost-effective and time-saving way to manage and access location information. It saves time throughout the healthcare supply chain and gives both Trusts and suppliers a single source of truth for their location information.
What is location information?
As part of the Scan4Safety programme, Acute Trusts in England have been mandated by the Department of Health to use GS1 standards to track every person, product and place in their hospitals. Location information forms the place element – a GS1 Global Location Number (GLN) enables the unique and unambiguous identification of every physical and operational location within the healthcare system. This means information can be collected where an event occurs – whether this event involves the dispensing of patient care, the use of medical equipment or the ordering and delivery of goods.
These GLNs will now be stored on LocationManager, allowing for seamless access between Trusts and their suppliers, providing definitive location information. Benefits include:
- Single point of access to location information for all Trusts and suppliers
- Any physical, operational or legal location can be identified in seconds by Trusts or suppliers
- Improved patient care due to certainty of delivery to the right location
- Reduced costs due to fewer invoice queries and correct payment for suppliers
How can I join?
All six Scan4Safety sites are already using LocationManager, if you’re an Acute Trust in England or a supplier to the NHS, you can join them. Just get in touch to sign up or find out more.
