Handy ordering software that was created for a leading independent cash and carry has been launched for use on iPhones and iPads.
A function for scanning a product’s bar code will also be included, which will work through the handset’s inbuilt camera. This is designed to help shoppers to process larger orders in Batleys and Bestway stores more easily.
The retail chain hopes that this app will give its customers a lot more choice in the items that they buy, while also making their shopping experience more convenient. Bestway even believes that the mobile software may come to alter the purchasing patterns of shoppers.
The prices of the items on the app’s database will be updated regularly, so that customers can see the best deals available at the time, which will include multi-buy offers. A number of other functions will also be available to users, such as a store locator and a list of products that have been previously ordered. Dawood Pervez, the wholesaler’s marketing director, stated that the development follows new company figures that highlight shoppers’ growing confidence in multi-channel options. It was reported that online sales figures were now showing growth in the double digits, with around 15% of that coming from new corporate clients.
Pervez added that the Bestway app will help to streamline this sales process, while also enhancing the wholesaler’s web capabilities.
Although the software is currently only available on Apple handsets, an app for Android smartphones is under development.
