Accountabilities:

  • Understand how GS1 standards can support the construction industry priorities
  • Identify opportunities and develop roadmap for standards and services
  • Work across the sector with a broad range of businesses, industry partners, other MO’s and government in order to solve problems our members can’t solve on their own
  • Develop specialised strategies for implementing GS1 standards in specific construction projects or segments
  • Gain deep understanding of specific challenges and opportunities in key areas of the construction industry

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and engage with the existing construction engagement communities e.g., construction user group, partners & associations
  • Know how our standards work, why they are useful and how they can be used to deliver business benefit
  • Acquire a deep understanding of key construction industry business priorities and strategic challenges
  • Develop proof points and case studies where our partners and members have adopted GS1 standards and seen genuine commercial benefit and operational efficiencies
  • Adopt a future facing mindset which looks to use standards to solve macro issues for the sector
  • Develop thought leadership on the power of standards for the construction industry 
  • Use structured account management process to develop and manage stakeholders
  • Publicly promoting and acting as an ambassador for GS1 UK. Advocating what we do and how we help solve industry challenges
  • Grow GS1 UK brand positioning, increasing its relevance within the construction sector through relevant, targeted networking and collaboration, including with government, sector partners, other MO’s. charities and industry bodies
  • Raise awareness and campaign for the adoption of GS1 standards. Demonstrate active participation in programmes, public conversations, and collaborative agendas across the sector 
  • Be the expert for specific construction industry areas, driving innovation and adoption of GS1 standards
  • Develop strong, focused relationships with key stakeholders in specific areas of the construction sector
  • Manage and deliver specialised construction projects aligning with strategic plans

Background and experience
  • A good understanding of the construction value chain, key challenges and digitalisation opportunities
  • Highly focused on the understanding of stakeholder needs and developing approaches to meet their requirements (key account management)
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to deliver against strategic plans
  • Has been accountable for producing clear action plans and successfully delivering against them
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering projects
  • Good understanding of the Building Safety Act and other relevant regulations in the construction industry
Desirable
  • Understanding/appreciation of the GS1 system and standards
  • Substantial experience spent either working for a contractor, distributor, manufacturer, building services or industry body or professional services solutions company who supports these organisations
  • Extensive knowledge of the construction sector including partners, trading communities and supported by a strong network of contacts
  • Fully conversant in the key trends affecting the sector and their communities
