Overall purpose:
As training and education manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing training programs and educational content for both GS1 UK members and for our staff, ensuring that stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge of GS1 standards needed to succeed in their respective objectives.
Accountabilities:
Reporting into the head of standards and education, you will oversee all training and education activities across the business, including the management of the GS1 UK Knowledge Hub (external facing) and Learning Management System (internal facing), administrating instructor-led training, implementing an internal training programme, and continually looking to improve the quality and reach of GS1 UK’s education offerings through innovation, business development and technology.
Key responsibilities:
Core:
- To manage the Knowledge Hub on the GS1 UK website, including curating, editing and developing content.
- To explore ways to further develop Knowledge Hub capability, increasing value for GS1 UK members and further business opportunities for GS1 UK.
- To work with the GS1 UK standards team and industry engagement and other stakeholders as required to develop, deploy and refine training and education content.
- To implement and maintain an internal education programme to increase knowledge of GS1 standards across the organisation.
- To manage GS1 UK’s Learning Management System (LMS)
- To manage and administer GS1 UK’s training and webinar programmes.
- To oversee training marketing and collateral, both online and offline, and support the continued development of the marketing to both members and non-members.
- To work cross-departmentally to identify training requirements that support strategic projects.
- To explore ways for GS1 UK to digitalise our internal and external training offering. To maintain up-to-date information and reports and show performance against agreed KPIs.
- To manage internal and contracted learning and content designers as required.
Additional:
- Ensure that management information is up to date, accurately reflects progress of the activities of the team.
- Ensure that due process is followed in development of propositions, not limited to but including securing executive team approvals against business case developed to seek investment in solutions.
- Represent GS1 UK in interactions with our members, partners, Global Office and other Member Organisations.

Background and experience:
- Demonstrable experience in the design and implementation of learning strategies
- Experience in a focused training role (identifying training needs, design, delivery and evaluation)
- Experience in partnering/managing subject matter experts, external consultants and solutions providers
- Experience in both learning design and delivery
- Proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams (such as industry engagement, marketing, consulting, technical and information systems).
- Experience of managing and leading people.
Desirable:
- An understanding of the GS1 standards and solutions.
- Experience of implementing or managing certification programmes.
- Experience of working with academia.
- Experience in working with learning design programmes (E.g., Articulate).
- Visual design skills and ability to storyboard.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts.
- Educated to degree or equivalent level.
