Accountabilities:
To drive membership growth from the activation of strategic community partnerships. Increasing the awareness of GS1 UK, our standards and the support provided for product-based SMEs. Building advocacy for GS1 UK amongst our community partners, through shared vision and joint activity.
Key responsibilities:
Core
- Responsible for fulfilling membership KPIs and GS1 UK’s strategic and operating plans
- Work collaboratively throughout the business, to deliver GS1 UK initiatives and associated KPIs
- Develop and implement a clear, comprehensive strategy for growing the community partnerships which identifies opportunities for commercially viable solutions that meet the needs of SMEs and align with GS1 UK’s strategy
- Effective implementation of community partner programmes, ensuring each account programme has sufficient resources and clear objectives, with plans that are activated and optimised
- Act as the key point of contact for the community partnerships
- Ensure the community partnerships remain suitable for today’s membership needs and support member retention
- Identify additional communities that will deliver growth and drive advocacy for GS1 UK based on insight and qualified industry needs
- Develop a clear understanding of the market size of product-based SMEs in the UK.
- Provide insight and knowledge of the evolving needs of UK SMEs and opportunities for GS1 UK
- Raise awareness of and maintain GS1 UK membership as a vital part of the growth journey for successful product-based SMEs
- Ensure the needs of smaller businesses are reflected in the membership proposition
- Increase GS1 UK brand awareness through targeted networking and collaboration with small business communities and industry specialists
- Enhance GS1 UK’s brand positioning by building effective relations with stakeholders such as government representatives, industry bodies and external providers who complement GS1 UK’s activities in the sector
- Manage the budgets allocated to the partnerships to achieve KPIs and demonstrate return on investment
- Support and promote the communities by representing GS1 UK at industry events
- Confidently present GS1 UK membership and initiatives at industry events and exhibitions
- Ensure effective update and adoption of standards and solutions
- Support the implementation of pricing strategies to attract and retain SME members
Person specification:
Essential skills and experience
- Highly motivated, self-aware and resilient
- Experience of working in a small business, or within small business programmes (focusing on solutions targeting products and brands, rather than professional services)
- Experience of working in the direct to consumer sector
- Knowledge of one at least one of our core industries
- Sound understanding of the SME growth lifecycle, the partners and associations supporting small businesses
- Fully conversant in the key trends affecting SMEs and their trading communities and able to articulate how the adoption of GS1 standards and services would add value.
- Experience of establishing long term working relationships with customers, partners and industry bodies
- Proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams
- Has been accountable for producing clear action plans and successfully delivering against them
