Terms and conditions for pop-up competition

1. By entering the pop-up competition in partnership with The Great Brand Exchange, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

2. The competition is being run by GS1 UK and The Great Brand Exchange.

Eligibility to enter

3. The pop-up opportunity is open to entrants over 18 years of age and GS1 UK members in the following product categories: Beauty, Children's (toys and fashion), Craft & Hobby, Fashion, Fashion accessories, Greetings, Stationery, Art, Prints, Home & Kitchen, Home Furnishings, Jewellery, Party, Seasonal Decors, Pets. We cannot accept food and drink brands for this competition. 

4. In entering the John Lewis pop-up opportunity, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to the pop-up opportunity provided by GS1 UK and The Great Brand Exchange.

5. To be able to win, your product must not be listed on the John Lewis prohibited products & materials list. View the full list of prohibited products & materials here. You must meet the compliance requirements for your product category. We will be checking this thoroughly upon submission and shortlisting.

How to enter

7. Submissions for the pop-up competition are open from 5 March 2024 and close at midnight on Tuesday 2 April 2024.

8. To enter this competition, you will need to complete the SurveyMonkey application form via this page on the GS1 UK website – www.gs1uk.org/insights/news/pop-up-shop-competition

9. GS1 UK will not accept responsibility if contact details provided are incomplete or inaccurate.

The pop-up

10. A pop-up opportunity in a John Lewis store between 13-19 May 2024 at Trafford, White City, Nottingham, Bristol and Bluewater.

11. After 5 April, a shortlist will be chosen by a panel of GS1 UK and The Great Brand Exchange representatives, including an independent representative, as per a set judging criterion.

12. GS1 UK will cover the cost of the pop-up shop, including the commission fee of sales that is required to be paid to John Lewis. The John Lewis pop-up opportunity is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered. 

13. We reserve the right to substitute prizes with another fund/prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond our control make it necessary to do so.

14. The decision of GS1 UK and The Great Brand Exchange regarding any aspect of the competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

15. The winner is expected to host their pop-up shop for 7 days a week as per the John Lewis store opening hours. You may employ external/internal staff to host your pop-up however they must be fully trained.

Winner announcement

16. The winner will be notified after 5 April and will be contacted by email by GS1 UK to discuss next steps and how to claim and utilise the pop-up opportunity.

17. If the winner does not respond to the emails notifying them of their win within 14 days of the second email, they will lose their right to the prize, and The Great Brand Exchange/GS1 UK reserves the right to choose and notify a new winner.

Data protection and publicity

18. You consent to any personal information and responses you provide to be shared with The Great Brand Exchange, so that they can contact you in regards to the pop-up competition if you are a successful applicant and provide details about the pop-up.

19. All entrants may apply for details of the winning participant by contacting us at marketing@gs1uk.org.

20. The successful applicant agrees to the release of their first name and place of work.

21. An announcement of the winners first name and place of work will be made on GS1 UK and The Great Brand Exchange’s social media and email channels.

22. All personal information shall be used in accordance with GS1 UK’s privacy policy.

Limitation of liability

23. GS1 UK does not provide any form of practical or support for this prize. On receipt, all responsibilities relating to warranty and the product are that of the prize winner.

General

24. GS1 UK reserves the right to cancel the pop-up opportunity or amend these terms and conditions at anytime, without prior notice.

25. The pop-up opportunity and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
