From your dashboard, head to the GTIN-13 option on the left-hand menu.
If you have more than one GS1 Company Prefix, make sure you choose the correct one.
Click use next number to get the next available number or select a number from your list.
A new screen will appear with your GTIN-13, and a heading labelled “Creating a new product".
Fill in product description, which is mandatory to generate a barcode image. The product description should comprise of the brand name, variant and net content.
Complete the additional fields below as required.
Completing the Global Product Classification (GPC) is mandatory to share product information to Verified by GS1 (VbG)
Click on the three dots to search for your product category.
In the search field type in the type of product it is, for example, “jam”.
For medical device manufacturers using GS1 to meet the Unique Device Identification (UDI) requirements, the GTIN is the UDI-DI element of the UDI. If you also need to capture production information in the barcode, you will need a third-party application to create the required barcode rather than using the GS1 UK Numberbank.
