Last year, GS1 UK were pleased to announce a new partnership with DIT (The Department of International Trade), with our shared goals to help small businesses grow.
We have been working with them on their Exporting is GREAT campaign and as part of this, the DIT have developed the Great.gov.uk platform, to help businesses export overseas. It is also a destination designed to present the UK as a natural choice for prospective overseas investors.
When you visit Great.gov.uk, there is a useful Export Readiness tool, which will categorise you as a new, occasional or regular exporter. From here, you will be presented with tailored information and services designed to help you establish your presence on the global stage and understand growth markets for your products or services. You will also have access to new tools across government as they come online.
The suite of tools on the platform include:
- Trade Profile - designed to connect you with overseas buyers, allowing UK businesses to market their offering to prospective partners
- Export Opportunities - presents you with overseas business opportunities gathered by our network of in-post Embassy and High-Commission trade experts and overseas partners
- Selling Online Overseas - to help small and medium sized UK businesses export overseas via online marketplaces, with preferential rates negotiated by the DIT, exclusively for UK businesses
Great.gov.uk also connects you with UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK’s export credit agency. UKEF helps UK exporters by providing insurance to exporters and guarantees to banks to share the risks of providing export finance. In addition, it can provide finance to overseas buyers of goods and services from the UK.
