March 25, 2015 Industry news
The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) held their eProcurement conference in March 2015. This provided a great opportunity for suppliers to the NHS to understand how the NHS eProcurement Strategy impacts their business.
The day covered a range of topics:
- Suppliers’ guidelines to be published by the Department of Health
- Latest updates in the strategy’s implementation plan
- Necessary steps to enable compliance
- Actions NHS Trusts are taking
Other speakers included a ‘who’s who’ line up from across healthcare, including the Department of Health, NHS Trusts and leading solutions providers.
GS1 standards provide the foundation for integrated patient care in the NHS by enabling the globally unique identification of every person, every product and every place”
Glen Hodgson, Head of Healthcare, GS1 UK
Glen spoke about implementing the mandated GS1 standards and how healthcare suppliers can benefit from them:
- Single source of truth for the NHS
- Reduced ship-to / bill-to enquiries
- Reduced transaction costs
- Increased accuracy of vigilance reporting
- Reduced wastage cost
We are supporting many Trusts to achieve effective compliance with the mandated GS1 standards across their Trust and with their suppliers, including in the following key applications:
Product safety recall | Purchase-to-pay processing | Inventory management |
---|---|---|
eMedicines | Surgical instrument management | Medical equipment management |
Community equipment management | Medical records management | Pathology sample management |
Many thanks to ABHI for hosting what was a sell-out event – and to the other speakers and delegates.
We’re looking forward to driving further adoption of GS1 standards throughout healthcare. Delivering a safer, compliant and more efficient healthcare service.
I have been to a number of similar events and this was the best by far. Supplier engagement and encouragement was excellent!!”
