Standards that fit, now and tomorrow
Our retail team
Connecting and collaborating with the retail sector
Our retail team are industry specialists with exceptional networks and insight. The team act as consultants to support UK retail through challenges and to maximise opportunities, using our GS1 standards and services.
Our neutrality and impartiality ensures we can respond to trends, focus our activities on industry priorities, and facilitate collaboration within the sector.
The team does this through engagement with a broad base of industry stakeholders, including - trade associations, key industry commentators, solution providers, environmental organisations and different member businesses.
I joined GS1 UK in 2014 and am responsible for developing new relationships with grocery retailers, with whom GS1 UK are not currently in active dialogue. My focus is on understanding the needs of this sector and using the insight to propose where GS1 standards and solutions can add value right through to the consumer.
Before joining GS1 UK, I was with Best Buy, the US electronics retailer managing direct sourced product into Europe from Asia. The majority of my career has been with Sainsbury’s in a variety of supply chain roles covering domestic logistics and global imports.
Laura joined GS1 in 2021, and is working alongside the wider Retail and Innovation teams to frame the use of GS1 standards for sustainability purposes, especially to achieve circular economy goals.
Prior to GS1, Laura worked on large innovation projects in the global Energy industry as part of Accenture. She also worked in East and West Africa for over three years, covering a range of roles tackling humanitarian clean energy access, livelihoods and private sector development, supporting small and medium sized enterprises with value proposition development and partnership support.
Laura holds a Master’s degree in Sustainability and Social Innovation from HEC Paris, and a BA (Hons) in Conflict, Peace and Security from the University of Kent.
