Accountabilities

Our purpose is to harness the power of standards to transform the way people work and live. Accountability for helping industry to implement GS1 standards and defining the subsequent adoption steps and supporting Industry Engagement to create and present proposals.

Key responsibilities:

Core

  • Lead the standards consulting team
  • Take a technical lead role in GS1 UK projects and on-going activities based on the key deliverables of the GS1 UK strategic and operational plans
  • Participate in research, keep up-to date with business practises in GS1 target markets and new technologies and solutions
  • Provide 2nd line technical support to the GS1 UK membership experience team
  • Provide technical expertise to the development and management of GS1 UK’s products and services
  • Provide technical expertise and support to GS1 UK’s teams interaction with members and stakeholders
  • Provide technical expertise into the Global Standards Management Process (GSMP) and GS1 UK projects
  • Develop application based implementation guidelines and other documentation in relation to specific projects and industry deployments
  • Facilitate technical working groups and liaise with other relevant organisations, including GSMP
  • Support GS1 UK’s training services to internal and external stakeholders, providing content and supporting delivery
  • Support the GS1 UK partner programme, including approving partner products as required
  • To carry out other duties as agreed with the Head of product

Additional

  • Provide input and support into GS1 UK projects and on-going activities based on the key deliverables of the GS1 UK strategic and operational plans
  • Support Industry Engagement in the development and delivery of a programme of activities to drive the adoption of GS1 standards
  • Input knowledge of supply chain processes, application of solutions and market trends into GS1 UK programmes, projects and activities
  • Provide education and evangelism of services offerings both internally and externally, include attending and presenting at conferences, industry forums and workshops
  • Represent GS1 UK in interactions with our members, Global Office and other Member Organisations
  • To liaise with and (where appropriate) leverage the work of the global GS1 organisation, GS1 member organisations, other standards and industry bodies and solution providers

  • Customer focused with the ability to form working relationships industry representatives and key stakeholders
  • Customer facing – Pre-Sales, Project Scope, Proposal Negotiation, Resource Management, etc
  • Flexible approach to working environment and location with the ability to work on own initiative or co-operatively in teams
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills and the ability to set deadlines and targets and meet them
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to deliver charismatic and compelling presentations
  • Highly motivated and innovative individual, tackles assignments with enthusiasm and commitment
  • Strives to obtain further learning and relevant qualifications to support personal aspirations and work objectives

Background and experience:

  • Substantial experience working within industry (retail, healthcare or marketplaces)
  • An understanding of the GS1 system
  • Project leadership/management experience
  • Excellent skills in organising, chairing meetings, and workshops
  • Experience of scoping and defining adoption strategies through matrix and partner management
  • Experienced in a supply chain environment, software, or information management
  • A good understanding of supply chain processes, technologies, and solutions
  • Experience of leading and working in project teams
  • Project leadership experience
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to drive decisions and get closure on recommendations and issues

Desirable:

  • A good understanding of the GS1 standards and solutions
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level
