Accountabilities
To develop, implement and deliver GS1 UK’s strategy in the construction sector
Draw on relationships within the UK construction market, and across GS1 UK’s broader network, to: increase the adoption and use of GS1 standards; deepen our market insight; influence the construction industry’s debate; position GS1 UK as a critical enabler of digital change; enhance our reputation for collaboration; and complement the work of GS1 UK’s industry engagement, membership, training, and standards teams.
Key responsibilities
- Translate deep market insight into strategic clarity and prioritisation of GS1 UK activity – for engagement, standards development and support services
- Develop, with our members, the long-term strategic vision for the construction sector
- Broaden and deepen GS1 standards adoption across the construction industry by building strong relationships with government, trade associations, companies, technology providers and other key stakeholders
- Shape construction industry norms through building a small number of high-value, rich relationships that deepen our impact, relevance and reach. Draw on GS1 UK standards expertise and technical capabilities throughout
- Build highly credible use cases and distil this insight into engagingly clear campaigns
- Establish GS1 UK as reference site for standards adoption, sharing best practice with GS1 global colleagues as required
- Deliver value to key construction sector stakeholders by influencing broader industry change programmes, driving the adoption of standards into industry-owned, long-term commercial solutions
- Responsible for delivering agreed programmes and KPIs from the overall construction and GS1 UK Operating Plan

Person specification
Background and experience
- Track record of operating at senior levels of construction industry with a particular focus on digital construction
- Fully conversant in the key trends affecting the construction industry and able to articulate how the adoption of GS1 standards would add value
- Digital bias with experience in how to embrace digital, technology & innovation to meet the needs of parties throughout the product lifecycle
- Experience of leading teams and managing a broad stakeholder group
- Experience of developing compelling value propositions
- A good understanding of systems and technologies used throughout the construction supply chain
- Extensive knowledge of the construction sector, their partners and trading communities, supported by a strong network of contacts
- Highly focused on the understanding of stakeholder needs and developing approaches to meet their requirements
- Proven track record of working collaboratively, within cross-functional teams and in a matrix organisation, to deliver against strategic plans.
