Overall purpose:

To create and execute a market strategy based on qualified industry needs that drive growth opportunities and value (through the increased adoption of GS1 based solutions) and maintain GS1 UK as a vital partner of the NHS in all four nations of the United Kingdom.

Key responsibilities:

Core
  • Lead engagement activities with the NHS. Negotiate and renew national membership agreements for all for home nations National Health Services GS1 UK membership and service offerings at prices acceptable to the executive team
  • Map the ‘ecosystem’ for the market to identify key influencers, including government agencies, trade bodies and solution partners and develop plan for engagement and alignment as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior national leaders within Government, NHS national bodies, Arm’s Length bodies (including the MHRA and other regulators) as well as regional ICB leaders and c-suite of local NHS trusts
  • Network and collaborate with senior leaders of trade associations, medical device and medicines manufacturers and major solution partners
  • Develop a cohesive value proposition for the market based on the ability of GS1 standards and solutions to address industry challenges, drawing on GS1 global activity. Regularly map, measure and demonstrate increased GS1 standards adoption across the NHS
  • Identify and validate new segments of existing markets where the adoption of GS1 standards and services would be of sufficient value to drive industry adoption
  • Represent GS1 UK at industry events both chairing and speaking at national healthcare conferences
  • Lead a cross organisational team to ensure alignment with the (relevant) market strategy, taking accountability for the execution and delivery of the plan
  • Provide extensive market input into the solution development process
  • Work jointly with other functions to ensure that GS1 UK’s activities continue to be appropriately funded through increased membership, programme sponsorship and/or service provision
  • Work with the Marketing team to develop and execute an industry content strategy across all our channels that raise the profile, relevance and understanding of GS1 UK

Person specification:

Essential:
  • Significant senior leadership experience at Director level within the healthcare industry either with a manufacturer of medicines and / or medical devices, an NHS or Arm’s Length Body organisation or government department
  • Extensive senior leader network within NHS England, DHSC, Arm’s Length Bodies and NHS Trusts
  • First rate analytical and collaborative skills and an extensive understanding of GS1 solutions
  • Strong financial skills and business acumen with a growth mindset
