Our Operating Board

The Operating Board is the Chief Executive’s management team, responsible for our day-to-day running on behalf of the Supervisory Board

The primary activities of the Board include the delivery of our annual operating plan, monitoring progress and regularly reporting against key milestones to the Supervisory Board. The team is also focused on communicating and implementing our vision and objectives to both internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that the right resources are in place to achieve our goals.

Gary Lynch - Chief Executive

Gary Lynch

Gary joined GS1 UK in 2002 and in 2007 was appointed Chief Executive. In this role, Gary is responsible for leading the formulation and successful execution of the strategic plan. He is also responsible for ensuring that the UK’s voice is heard within the international GS1 organisation and as such he is Vice-Chairman of the GS1 in Europe Board and also a member of the Global Management Board. 

Before joining us, Gary was Avaya’s eBusiness Director, responsible for the international deployment of their online portals for business partners.

Dave Crapnell - Chief Financial Officer

Dave CrapnellDave is responsible for GS1 UK’s financial processes and information systems. He has more than 20 years' experience in Finance and Information Systems in a range of companies across the property, insurance and business service sectors. 

Prior to GS1 UK he spent 12 years with the Europ Assistance Group in a number of senior positions including Finance & IT Director and Operations Director. He has led numerous high level change management projects, harnessing the business benefits of information systems and most recently the development of online solutions to improve both revenue potential and customer service.

Holly Porter - Chief Marketing Officer

Holly PorterHolly joined GS1 UK in November 2012 in this newly created position. She is responsible for developing and leading the marketing and membership experience strategy, focusing in particular on creating relevance and engagement for the smaller businesses that join GS1 UK.

Before joining GS1 UK, Holly spent eight years at Wincanton, the supply chain business, latterly as Marketing & Communications Director responsible for the development of the brand and its solutions for the retail, FMCG, industrial, construction and defence sectors. Prior to this, she spent five years at Publicasity PR in the corporate consultancy team.

Harshal Gore - Industry Engagement Director

Harshal Gore Harshal is our Industry Engagement Director. He has been with the organisation for over 15 years and has contributed to our development through many roles, working with strategic members to promote collaboration and best practice of value chain processes. He has a wealth of experience and valuable insight about our members’ needs across our key sectors.

Previously, Harshal led our quality assurance strategy, membership services department and headed up our consultancy team, responsible for the design, execution and delivery of many projects for our members. He started his career at Business Link in a range of consulting and project management roles.

Peter Wilson - Business Improvement Director

Peter Wilson GS1 UK Peter is responsible for ensuring that GS1 UK is geared up internally to serve our member needs, so that we evolve and develop according to new requirements.

With a twenty-year background in trade facilitation and EDI as well as a significant body of experience in coaching, mentoring and development, Peter is well placed to understand both the context of our work and how best to develop principles, processes and approaches that lead to a unique GS1 UK way of serving member needs.

Kim Ludlow - Solutions Director

Kim Ludlow Kim joined GS1 UK in 2017, and is responsible for heading up our solutions and standards portfolio. Kim is developing a coordinated data strategy for GS1 UK and is responsible for ensuring we develop innovative products and services in line with our members’ and industry needs.

Kim joined us from Brandbank where she was Group Head of Innovation. Prior to that she was UK Managing Director for MySupermarket, working with FMCG brands and retailers to maximise their opportunities within the ever-growing digital shopper marketplace. She has an in-depth understanding of online shopper behaviour, digital category performance metrics and the UK grocery landscape.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her children, keeping fit and leading her local Beavers group.
