PR and content marketing manager

Overall purpose

You will be responsible for creating compelling content for a range of channels including marketing communications, PR, digital and social media.

You will develop GS1 UK’s thought leadership programme and build new PR and influencer partnerships with relevant media titles, associations and people to ensure GS1 UK’s brand and voice and visibility is raised within key stakeholders and audiences.

You will be highly creative, news focused and have solid experience producing reactive and planned PR, developing a PR strategy, producing content and enhancing engagement across social media platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the strategy and planning of compelling content across multiple channels, including; website, videos, events, social media, blogs, podcasts, white papers, press releases and member communications
  • Develop and execute a plan for thought leadership that is aligned to key strategic pillars and industry trends utlising internal stakeholder expertise and GS1 standards
  • Management of the GS1 UK media office including monitoring media feeds, sending press releases, building/maintaining media database, drafting reactive comments and dealing with incoming media enquiries. You will also be responsible for sourcing opportunities for, and arranging, media interviews and drafting briefing documents for internal spokespeople
  • The management, strategic direction, development and enhancement of core GS1 UK social media channels and the content to power them
  • Creating, writing and implementing relevant PR stories and campaigns
  • Writing and creating premium content for digital platforms including website and social media channels
  • Create, develop and maintain network of influencers who will be responsible for advocating about GS1 standards
  • Day to day management of PR agency
  • Be the brand guardian for content quality, ensuring the brand voice and visual identity is applied
  • Set clear measures and KPIs for activity to make sure we’re constantly improving, and to show the impact and efficiency of our activity
  • Be responsible for identifying and circulating relevent content to internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for developing a proposal library for GS1 UK to enable response to media enquiries and government responses

Person specification

Background and experience

Essential

  • Professional marketing qualification - degree, CIM, CAM
  • Strong background in creating content with a passion for ‘telling stories’ – the ability to explain complex issues in simple, creative ways
  • Highly creative, detailed, proactive and passionate PR professional
  • Experience creating compelling impactful content across the wide range of communication channels
  • An in-depth knowledge of planning and execution of content across social channels to deliver increased visibility
  • Confident communicator with a proven track record of building relationships with editors and journalists both online and in traditional press, working with new partners
  • A solid understanding of tracking and measurement best practice and application, as well as the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • The ability to influence stakeholder on your ideas, recommendations and content
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and requirements to make sure you hit deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to apply to a variety of audience types
  • Good understanding of UX and content strategy
  • Experience with using PR tools, Meltwater, Signal AI, Cision and Roxhill
  • Proactive and an enthusiastic team player with a willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Coordinating frameworks and calendars for social, content etc…

  • Have a pre-exiting healthcare or retail media network
  • Interested in societal change
  • Minimum five years corporate PR experience
