Accountabilities
To support and be accountable for the customer invoices to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices, ensuring effective resolution of unpaid and disputed accounts.
• To contact customers by email and sometimes by telephone to discuss issues of non-payment, adding a note for all communications. This occasionally includes obtaining a purchase order from the customer
• As part of the above process there should be a review the customer’s account, log any errors identified, request refunds and investigate any unusual items. To check the customer’s contact details and update if required
• To manage any invoice queries, achieving customer satisfaction in all instances
• To regularly report to the Finance Manager regarding debtor levels and overdue accounts
• To review and develop credit control procedures to maintain required debtor level for both membership and all other revenue streams
• To input customer’s invoices with purchase orders onto customer websites/portals to obtain payment as required
• To undertake other ad-hoc duties as required to help contribute to the achievement of GS1 UK’s objectives, whilst supporting the finance team's goals
- Two to three years’ experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of accounting systems, customer relationship management systems and Microsoft 365
- Good understanding of basic book-keeping
- Working towards a professional accounting qualification
- Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) and cyber security awareness aligned with the UK Cyber Essentials framework, including secure working practices, threat recognition, and responsible data handling
- Ability to manage priorities both team and personal, with good time management and organisational skills
- Determined and task-orientated, ensuring results and objectives are achieved within agreed deadlines
- Good people skills: with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to work as a team player with other key stakeholders at all levels
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Is customer centric: sets high standards in meeting customer needs
