Find out how they implemented GS1 standards for health records tracking
Barking, Havering & Redbridge University NHS Trust (BHRUT) needed to make quick but efficient improvements after a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report had challenged their health records management. They implemented FIND-IT – a project that allowed them to use GS1 standards, RFID barcodes and tags to track health records.
BHRUT’s new system means three members of staff can now file round 2,000 records a day and a feasibility report has predicted a saving of £1,444,690 across three years from the new system. The Trust has also seen a number of other benefits since implementation including higher levels of available records - visibly improving both clinical decisions and patient experience.
