Barcodes for Amazon and other ecommerce sellers: Q&A with China Importal

GS1 UK Engagement Manager Ricky Jones recently spoke with China Importal about the need for ecommerce sellers to use barcodes in today’s digital world.

China Importal offer solutions for Amazon and other ecommerce sellers who import private label and custom designed products from China. Identifying these products is of course crucial, but what about barcodes? Are they really needed today when everything is being sold online?

In a recent Q&A with China Importal, Ricky explains that Amazon sellers and other ecommerce companies use GS1 product identifiers and barcodes to track and protect their brands, save on logistics costs and cut delivery times.

“As marketplaces develop their websites, their main objective is to continually improve the seller, and most importantly, the shopper’s experience. Ensuring authentic, genuine products with accurate information, in addition to embracing future technology, is driving the need for product identifiers and structured product data”.

Ricky goes on to explain the different types of product identifiers needed for various purposes and products.
