We’re now 30,000 strong!

Congratulations to our 30,000th member – Taylor Blake

GS1 UK began 40 years ago… and in that time we’ve seen steady membership growth as more and more industries and companies are benefitting from our standards.

In recent years, we’ve seen thousands of smaller companies joining, who are selling through online marketplaces. And in the last two years more clothing and footwear companies have joined, making this our fastest growing sector.

So, it’s fitting that our 30,000th member is Taylor Blake – a new British shoe brand. Launched in 2015 by footwear designer, Emily Blake and marketer, Tracey Taylor, their goal was to create beautifully luxurious shoes. Their shoes are designed in the UK and made in Spain by traditional, handcrafted methods in a family run factory. Both of them are very hands on as they personally source and select the finest European leathers and suedes for each of their designs. Their business has grown really quickly in their first year through their own website sales – and now they’re about to sell through Amazon too.

We’ve joined GS1 UK as we are taking our next steps into retail – online and offline – and we wanted to be prepared for this. We felt confident to join GS1 UK because of their heritage and legitimacy. We’ve allocated our first set of GS1 numbers to our products and will be going live with them this week through Amazon.”

“We’re proud to reach 30,000 members,” says Gary Lynch, CEO at GS1 UK. “And it’s great that our 30,000th member is a company like Taylor Blake. Using GS1 standards will help them grow their business through new sales channels like Amazon, and trade effectively across borders. We wish them all the best in their new venture, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to expand.”
