For over ten years, the Australian government has been promoting GS1 standards to improve supply chain efficiencies in the public healthcare sector.
NeHTA (National eHealth Transition Authority) is the agency incorporated by the coalition of Australian governments, both Federal and State, to lead these initiatives that are designed to improve patient safety with electronic records, and reduce public healthcare costs through improving standardisation and digitisation of supply chain processes including tenders, contracts, sourcing/procurement and inventory management.
