Scan4Safety

Scan4Safety Conference 2017

We had a fantastic two days working with the Department of Health for their Scan4Safety conference on 23 and 24 January. Nearly 200 suppliers attended the first day of the conference, with over 80 Trusts sending representatives on day two.

GS1 barcoding is the 2nd most important change in the NHS at the moment."

Lord Carter of Coles

As well as an update from the six demonstrator sites, attendees heard from senior leaders such as Lord Carter of Coles, Bob Alexander from NHS Improvement, and Professor Terence Stephenson from the General Medical Council, as well as presentations from Pfizer and the MHRA.

Highlights included Professor Stephenson’s important point on the use of technology as part of the Scan4Safety project – it needs to simple and easy to use, and that’s essentially the benefit that barcodes bring. And, as John Wilkinson, from the MHRA said in his presentation, “if we get this right, everyone wins.”
