Unilever introduced the GS1 Data Quality Management System and GS1 best practice procedures
Data quality levels quickly moved from a monthly average of 40% to a consistent score of 99%, making the UK the best in Europe.
Unilever is one of the world’s leading suppliers of fast-moving consumer goods, operating in 180 countries with 167,000 employees.
Faced with the sizeable challenge of merging three separate businesses into one, as well as a large number of suppliers and customers. There was a significant opportunity to consolidate processes into a single master data repository and develop a data management strategy.
By working with GS1 UK, Unilever have:
- Full responsibility and accountability for data quality
- An effective product information management system
- End-to-end supply chain automation
- Slicker fulfilment processes for retailer and distributor requests
Meeting the information needs of all our customers so that they can efficiently make our products available to consumers is vital to the way we do business in the UK. By adhering to the GS1 global standards and adopting a strong and successful data quality programme, we can be confident that the data we supply is of the highest quality
