Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) resources
Everything you need to implement EDI in your organisation
Usually you won't need to know the technical details behind EDI. You can choose to work with a specialist solution or application provider who can deliver you an off-the-shelf package or design a system that meets your specific needs.
We have accredited many of these solution providers – so we know they have the expertise and experience in using the relevant GS1 standards. You can find one using our Partner Finder.
But if you need to know more then we’ve got a series of guides that provide everything from the basics of EDI to technical guidelines for harmonised EDI message guidelines.
- EDI guidance for new users
- EDI guidance: the bigger picture
- How to…. Create and apply GS1 Logistics Labels using SSCCs
- Best practice logistics label guideline
- Harmonised ASN guideline
- Harmonised EPOD guideline
- Forecasting message implementation guideline
- ORDERS message implementation guideline
These documents have been created by our eCom Standards and Implementation Group (ESIG). This group is made up of experts from within industry. The harmonised guidelines detail a message format for companies to use with all their trading partners. By using a single harmonised message it is quicker, easier and cheaper for companies to implement EDI.
Watch our video to learn how GS1 standards deliver value when shipping and receiving goods.
And finally, if you need to get into the real nitty gritty of our EDI standards – like EANCOM or GS1 XML messaging standards – then our standards library is the place to visit.
