Job purpose

To create a data and insights driven culture that aligns membership data with the delivery of our three-year strategy and supports our purpose. Deliver actionable insights that will drive business decisions; forecast membership acquisition and retention; and deliver segmentation of our base to target future services/products. In summary demonstrate that through insights we can drive sustainable growth.

Main responsibilities

  • Visualise and present actionable data-driven insights to stakeholders making data digestible and meaningful. 
  • Create high quality and timely insights to support recruitment and retention programmes.
  • Ensure our membership data presents one version of the truth and is easy for the business to interact with confidence.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to our core data set using reliable, reputable external data sources.
  • Take a central role in the company-wide data quality project to drive improvements in data cleansing, structure and enhancements.
  • Educate and guide the business on how member data can be used to support business decisionsand shape strategy.
  • Predict risk areas in data collection, accuracy and reporting and suggest appropriate mitigation.
  • Create and maintain a central repository of member insights, sharing key messages from the analysis.
  • Provide accurate insight and statistics for inclusion in reports and presentations.
  • Conduct regular reviews with the broader teams to discuss insight requirements and needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the performance of the business insights, including additional data sources and analysis.
  • Build strong relationships with all levels of the organisation to fully appreciate the business strategy and facilitate evidence-based decision making.
  • Be the GS1 UK representative on the GS1 in Europe data and insights programme.

Person Specification

Background and experience
  • Experience as a go-to resource for data within a department or large team, providing strategic guidance on collation and reporting of data. 
  • Experience of being a team player with the ability to support the wider business.
  • Ability to interpret data from a variety of sources and translate insights to help inform business decisions and data inspired campaigns.
  • Proven experience working with data visualisation solutions and tools, including Power BI.
  • Excellent technical skills and competence to bring the data to life for a non-technical audience (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience of presenting insights to all levels of the business using data storytelling.
  • Database management and manipulation tools including SQL and Python.
  • Supplier / agency management to identify and work with third parties to enrich our data and knowledge.
  • Degree level or higher relevant qualification.
  • Minimum five years commercial experience.
Desirable
  •  An understanding of the dynamics and challenges of a subscription or membership organisation.
  • Google Analytics.
  • CRM software, Hubspot and or NetSuite experience.
  • Customer journey mapping skills to drive optimisation through a test and learn approach.
