GS1 UK and Amazon Sellers
GS1 UK is an independent not-for-profit organisation that works closely with Amazon.
Amazon requires sellers to have a unique number to trade online. All products from CDs and DVDs to clothes and mobile phone accessories will need an identification number. This number or Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is what uniquely and accurately identifies your product/s. GTINs are often referred as Universal Product Codes (UPC) or European Article Numbers (EAN). Without this identification, sales would not be tracked.
GS1 UK allocates unique numbers for Amazon sellers to identify and track products to sell on the site. To get your own prefix to create numbers for your products, you need to become a member of GS1. GS1 UK can license as many unique numbers as you need so you can assign them to your individual products.
