| The GS1 General Specifications describe the standards for GS1 bar codes and for the data that these bar codes represent. The specifications define all the standard identification numbers that are the core of the GS1 system and give rules for their use. The details of the application identifiers which define how attribute data can be provided to supplement identification are also given. The specifications also describe how and where to print the standard bar code symbols.
These are the specifications that are necessary for correct implementation of the standards and are a reference document.
