GS1 UK Data Synchronisation Group

The Data Synchronisation Group (DSG) is an established GS1 UK Expert Group. Its members include many representatives from major UK manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and solution providers. The group aims to:

  • Create a common understanding about the information exchanged between the different parties
  • Help in the development of standards that can be used by data pools so that GDS occurs
“The DSG provides the ideal neutral and independent environment for retailers, suppliers, foodservice operators and solution providers to come together on a regular basis. This enables us to collaborate on agreeing UK data synchronisation requirements and identifying best-practice for the alignment of product information throughout the supply chain, for the benefit of all.”
Chris Emment, Data and E-Commerce Architect, Brakes Group

“The DSG provides members with the knowledge, toolset and best practice to help successfully plan and implement GDS in our businesses. By learning together as a group, we save valuable time and effort, ensuring the maximum return on our investment in GDS.”
Mohini Tank, Vice-Chair, GDS Project Manager, Heinz
  Heinz

“The work of DSG is aligned with Unilever’s global approach to GDS and therefore provides me with valuable information and insight into the GDS process which I can fully utilise within my organisation.”
Eric Kirby, Vice-Chair, e-Business Development Manager, Unilever UK Limited
  Unilever

“The work of DSG helps ensure a common approach to the alignment of product information in the UK supply chain. The recommended best-practices the group produce can then be implemented by the wider GS1 UK membership, from the smallest supplier to the largest global retailer, benefiting UK industry as a whole.”
Gary Lynch, Chief Executive, GS1 UK
