Collaborate and improve efficiency in the transport and logistics sector meeting
Wednesday 17 February at GS1 UK offices in Central London
Do you want to reduce costs for transport buyers and operators in the transport and logistics sector?
GS1 UK has recently carried out a study on how the GS1 system of data and technology standards can add value to the Transport and Logistics sector
in the UK. Preliminary results show that standardising the communication between transport buyers and transport operators could reduce costs for both sides.
- By using standards for placing transport orders and for receiving real time information back on the status of the load including final proof of delivery could help both buyers and transport providers
- The transport and logistics sectors in other European and Scandinavian countries are already gaining significant efficiency improvements through extensive use of GS1 standards
GS1 UK are organising an open meeting at our central London offices on Wednesday 17th February from 10.00am to 2.00pm for transport buyers and logistics providers to discuss:
- where standards are required and agree on these standards
- the role of GS1 UK in implementing theses standards with industry
- the benefits of using standards to achieve optimal productivity and cost savings for industry
It is important that both transport buyers and logistics providers are well represented at the meeting. Full agenda details will be available in the New Year but to pre-register your interest please complete the online booking form.

Do you want to improve the efficiency of the supply chain between you and your suppliers?
For many years, GS1 standards have helped to improve the effectiveness of the supply chain between you and your retail and foodservice customers.
But have you ever thought how you can bring these same benefits to your upstream supply chain – between you and your suppliers of raw ingredients, components, parts, packaging and so on?
GS1 UK is hosting two workshops in March 2010 where you can learn how companies like yours are already benefitting from upstream supply chain integration:
- Increased efficiencies
- Optimised inventory levels
- Maximised production capacity
- Improved trading relationships

Speakers from P&G and Unilever will help you learn about the Global Upstream Supply Initiative (GUSI) – a proven business model based on the best practises from many leading CPG manufacturers and their suppliers.
The full agenda is available here. Both workshops will run from 10.30am to 4.00pm and lunch will be provided.
There is no charge for GS1 UK members but places are strictly limited so to confirm your place please complete the online booking form.
